You can read more about it here.

โฒ๏ธ Chronos module

In the previous release we embarked on an amazing journey that sees us starting making contribution to the open-source world and more over to the growing Gluesync community. Chronos is the first module we’ve open-sourced few days ago and it is now available as a module directly configurable from the UI.

You can read more about it here.

๐Ÿšฅ Proxy-oriented architecture (for Docker users)

To make Gluesync Modules available as first-class citizens, giving to Gluesync UI the ability to configure and manage them within the same control plane, we’ve refactored the Gluesync docker-compose yaml to support a proxy-oriented architecture.

This proxy architecture makes use of a reverse proxy to forward requests to the appropriate service based on the URL path, based on the famous Traefik reverse proxy. Together with this release we’re also upgrading the Gluesync docker-compose yaml assembler that generates the trial kits and the production docker-compose yaml to use the latest version of Traefik. This upgrade does not affect the Gluesync Kubernetes user.

๐Ÿš€ 4x Faster Snapshots

Snapshots are now 4x faster thanks to the introduction of the write parallelism feature at entity level.

You can now customize the number of parallelism at entity level in the snapshot configuration with a value of up to 8 parallel threads. Default value is 1, meaning no parallelism.

๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Japanese, Spanish & Italian support

From now on Gluesync speaks different languages: 2.0.9 introduces Japanese, Spanish and Italian. We thank our trusted partners Climb, inc. and Kustomati for supporting us on this journey.

How does it work? Support is automatic and detects your browser language. Error messages are preserved in plain English or in the language they come from your databases.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ’ป Call for developers: SDKs are here!

With this release we embarked on an amazing journey that sees us starting making contribution to the open-source world and more over to the growing Gluesync community.

SDKs are the first step for us to fill the gap between our development roadmap and the ability to extend the platform functionalities in a way that we cannot even image: developers can now interact with the platform via SDKs, to create Modules, automations and much more. That’s just the beginning.

Python & Node.js are the first two languages to receive an SDK with Java / Kotlin to follow.

Did I mention Modules? Continue reading. ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป

๐Ÿค– Modules

Gluesync Modules are purpose-built components that integrate with the Core Hub to provide specialized functionality. Each module is designed to address specific needs within the Gluesync ecosystem, from automated task scheduling to system bootstrapping and configuration.

We’re committed on providing open source modules so you, as a member of our community, can be inspired to build something amazing from scratch or by building on top of our foundations.

We’ve started already:

Bootstrapper has been the first module we’ve open-sourced few days ago, and now Chronos is following with more almost ready to see the sun too.

We can’t wait to see what you’ll build next!

๐Ÿ†š Before & after images support

This release introduces support for before & after images for all compatible RDMBS agents and NoSQL agents:

For RDMBS agents

  • Field-level comparison is performed at source agent-level and only the columns that have changed are sent to the target;

  • Updates on columns that are involgig non-monitored columns will be skipped;

  • Rows containing columns with before & after values that are all equal are entirely skipped from the replication task, saving bandwidth and processing time;

For NoSQL agents

  • Rows containing columns with before & after values that are all equal are entirely skipped from the replication task, saving bandwidth and processing time;

We will gradually improve support and extend before & after images support for NoSQL agents with future releases.

Want to learn more about this feature? Check out our Before & after images 101 page.

โญ๏ธ Skip deletions

There are cases where you don’t want Gluesync to delete rows from the target database, this new feature allows you to skip deletions, that are happening at the source and would otherwise be sent to the target. This feature works selectively by target and for specific entities, giving you full control over the process.

This comes in handy when you want to preserve the data in the target database, or when you want to avoid the deletion of rows that are not relevant to your use case, like for example when you have a history table where you want to keep all the rows for auditing purposes or when you’re replicatinge from an hot-storage in which records might be flushed due to TTLs expiration or cleanup policies.

To learn how to start leveraging this feature see our dedicated page: Skip deletions.

New features

๐Ÿงฌ Define your custom unique document identifier (applies to NoSQL targets only): from the Web UI it is now possible to define your own custom unique document key, by composing it with custom fields (you can even sort them manually), a prefix, a suffix and a custom value separator. As shown in the picture below, just toggle the Customize document key switch to begin building your own custom key template.

Build your custom NoSQL document key

๐Ÿ” On-the-fly data filtering: you can now specify filters to be applied to incoming data feed, meaning while data is on-flight, to filter out data not matching the desired filter rule. This initial release introduces the following filters:

  • =,

  • >,

  • <,

  • >=,

  • ,

  • !=,

  • in,

  • Not in,

  • Is null,

  • Not null,

  • Regex: to be used like Dan.* to filter out data just like you are applying a LIKE Dan% SQL where clause to match your data.

On-the-fly data filtering

This feature will be further extended to include additional filter types, rules, predicates and the ability to apply the filter at snapshot level to avoid sourcing unwanted data during snapshot tasks.

New agents

  • Oracle triggers-based auditing: ported from GS 1.X it is now available in GA;

  • CockroachDB target agent;

  • Google Cloud Storage target agent;

  • Google Pub/Sub target agent;

  • RavenDB target agent;

  • Redis, it is now supported as a target;

  • Informix, source & target agent.

Improvements

๐ŸŽ๏ธ 2x performances improvement with same hardware resources: we went down optimizing payloads serialization, fine tuned algorithms and optimized the platform under different hardware setups, all of this has been achieved after thousands of benchmarks done in the past few months. With this release we’re bringing the first chunk of improvements for a smoother & faster replication experience. More to come.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป IBM i series / AS400 agent: we carried out a major refactor of the source IBM i agent with the goal to lower its resources footprint: thanks to one of our customers we have been able to drastically reduce the agent’s CPU resources usage on the IBM machine level especially on low-CPW provisioned hardware. We went from 50% CPU consumption for an average CPU time of 15-30 seconds down to as low as 5% for 0.5 seconds avg. CPU time. This massive improvement has been measured on low-end hardware resources with ~18.000 provisioned CPW as well as on hardware with double the provisioned CPW. We can now proudly say that we have one of the fastest & lightweight IBM i source agents in the market.

UI refresh with version bump to v1.1

Pipeline details and entity details UI have been refreshed to provide an even smoother user experience.

UI v1.1 preview

Other

๐Ÿงน We have squashed all known bugs: thanks for your support!

2.0.1

10-10-2024

๐Ÿ” Security:

  • TLS certificate support with issued JKS (Java key store);

From 2.0.1 onwards every connection established to and from the Core Hub is made with TLS encryption. Web UI is then reachable from https:// protocol when TLS is enabled. A self-signed HTTPS/TLS certificate is shipped with every new kit. Please request a new trial kit or contact support for upgrading from past versions.
  • Container images no longer use root as predefined user within the container, highering security measures and enforcing the security perimeter of the application and its context;

๐Ÿ”Œ Connections pool (for JDBC’s agents): we’re paving the way for new features like prioritized entities, groups and much more. This release brings a whole new set of feaures around connection pool management such as how many entities within the same pipeline can run in parallel (by limiting how may connections can be opened towards the source). We will add a new chapter to our documentation to describe how to leverage this new functionality;
